Orton-Gillingham Lessons

Learning Objective

  • Using a phonetically-based multisensory approach Orton-Gillingham, students will significantly increase their reading and writing skills.

  • 12-14 components of Orton-Gillingham will be applied in each lesson.

  • Pre and post-reading assessments will be given to promote academic success.

  • Lessons will be customized and tailored to meet the academic and emotional needs of each learner.

  • Lessons will be aligned with common core state standards and Orton-Gillingham principles.

  • Positive reinforcement and feedback will be implemented in each lesson.

  • A brief lesson summary will be given for each lesson.

  • Multisensory phonemic activities will be embedded in each lesson.

  • Short and long-term learning goals will be measured and obtained.

Reading Books Makes You Better

Key Benefits

Students will improve their reading skills by one grade level or more,over a period of 25 weeks or 50 lessons (2-3 lessons a week). Beginning assessments are done before the first lesson. Then assessments are completed every six months.
